This is the first R.A. Salvatore book I did not like, in fact I became upset at the realization of how long the book was and how boring it was. In the anniversary edition of Legend of Drizzt, you are reading qoutes every fifth of the book by someone who isn't even in it at all. Wulfgar's journey is an interesting and had me sympathizing with him over the absolute injustice of it as only he is punished for making any bad decisions.
The entire subplot of the Fiefdom of Auckney was personally infuriating, so I'm not even gonna get started as it feels those whose truly deserve punishment in this story always seem to escape it in the end. The story overall left a bad taste in my mouth and sucked out any desire to continue onto Sea of Swords. Just read a synopsis and don't waste your time on this terrible drama piece forced in the middle of an action oriented dark fantasy series.
