SPOILERS!
The movie was a bit of a let down. I have LOVED all of M. Night Shyamalan‘s movies, but this one fell a bit short. The overall idea of the movie was intriguing and caught my eye, the idea of being trapped and aged with no idea how to escape or even why it’s happening. The way the characters age right in front of the other characters, and the twists and turns that tear at you emotionally. The only critiques, would be that the entire movie felt extremely rushed. An event would happen, such as the baby being born, and within a minute, a new tragedy would happen. It felt very much like a “look here, HERE, look THERE, LOOK AT THAT” and never went too deep into any event that actually happened. Maybe that’s the movies’ way of showing time moves SO much faster than we realize, but it felt like being berated by traumatic events every two minutes and not experiencing the first that happened, and not letting the audience linger with it. It was hard to even take parts of the movie in because new events would be happening. With that being said, it was very easy to see how the ending would play out. I wasn’t very surprised when the last two characters were still standing. The camera angles were phenomenal, though I feel like they focused a little too much on that, because many camera angles would be off, way too close to a characters face, or just not on the character talking for seconds at a time. It was a little difficult to follow in that area because I would be sitting there staring at a tree with half a characters face in frame. I highly recommend at least watching this movie to gain your own perspective. It was very interesting seeing all the points of time and aging and the hardships that come with accepting what’s to come, but it felt rushed.
