I didn’t like the book until it was 3/4 over. I thought it was written too simply at first and don’t usually read YA novels. I just picked this up as a quick read while traveling. But this story really grew on me. I was frustrated so much by their miscommunication at times but of course they were so young and these issues are very realistic, as they grew into themselves. I could identify with the really intense bond and connection, and her abusive history and the effect it had on her ability to form “normal” relationships, and with Connell’s anxiety. I did end up watching the TV series also and I cannot believe how closely it followed the book! From the characters to the dialog! The characters were almost exactly as I pictured them in the book. I was so impressed that they managed to follow the book so closely and the actors were incredible.
