I believe people are missing the point. the man is confused because he has a traumatic brain injury and can’t put things together. As a daughter of someone who has a TBI these things happen in real life. not to this extent but the confusion, the forgetfulness, impulsive decision, etc. are all things that happen to actual people with TBIs. Even though the end was easily guessed i think that the writers did a great job at representing how crazy and impulsive the human brain can be when in tense situations.
