I was really intrigued to see this movie initially, but it ended up being just okay. It felt like it could have been better if handled by someone without an agenda. The first half was quite good, but by the end, it seemed like an attempt to launch the director's daughter's singing career (who, in my opinion, lacked star power, looks, and charisma). It also felt like the movie was trying too hard to show Americans that Indians/Desi people are 'just like us,' which just came across as super cringe. I mean, what's so bad about being different? I noticed a clear 'hierarchy' in the film that made me scratch my head a few times because...what? And lastly, some scenarios were very hard to believe. But Josh Hartnett was absolutely AMAZING. Totally carried the film.
