I am one of the extreme kinds. I had been preparing myself to watch this movie for a week. On a Friday, a good meal, good company and a the basic Netflix and chill. Touching all aspects of BEING INDIAN and how politics and corruption can constantly keep increasing the gap between the rich and the poor. As theatric, expressive and detailed the storyline and dialogues were, it inclined more so towards an over explained journey that went nowhere. Adarsh gourav did a brilliant job at taking on the role, but the fast paced flow of the movie ruined the whole plot for the watcher. I went in with hopes of a great story, a great ending or so a great moral. I am not saying it’s basic, but you have shot the movie beautiful( put in all that effort) and then have forgotten to work on the story. Hyper speed was the mode of the movie. Disappointed movie night!

In the list of breathtaking movies directed by Anurag Basu, LUDO massively falls short in providing a movie buff with a concrete yet good story line. His attempt to add multiple plots in a 2.5 hours movie left me personally with a major headache. From the very beginning of the movie, the matter of coincidences and idea of a small world comprised with Yamraj and Chitragupth leaves a novice Bollywood watcher with a “what the hell did I just watch”. The story isn’t confusing, the story put together and the connections made are too frantically obvious. The movie shot in Kolkata made me feel as if I was watching a very badly directed play. 2020 isn’t the movie year for LUDO, but a one time watch thanks definitely is owed to Anurag Basu.
