Very faithful to Robert Harris's book. Visually stunning and excellently acted. The power struggles, intrigues and secrets are true of any organisation, but there are also questions of conscience and struggles to keep faith with the enormous responsibility of electing a new Pope. This is a gripping film, but it is insufficient to describe it as a thriller. It is more mature and complex than that.
