Great series. While itโs vastly different than the original Batman The Animated Series it stands alone.
I must admit I was skeptical going in but I became hooked after the 1st episode began.
While Iโm not a total fan of some of the design choices the story is solid and doesnโt break you out of the fantasy.
The villains are a treat this season. Unlike the original BTAS that humanized their villians, this series just goes back to making them evil and irredeemable. Harley Quinnโs character was a real surprise too me but I enjoyed what they did with the change. Also when it comes to the Penguin, unlike the other comic book purists I didnโt mind Penguin being a woman. If Robin Lord Taylor can give us a ruthless Penguin who just happens to be gay then we shouldnโt turn or nose up at this iteration.
Catwoman, Nocturna, Firebug, Two Face, Clayface, Onomatopoeia and Gentleman Ghost are also present this season and give solid performances.
What this series does differently than BTAS is in its characterization of Batman/Bruce Wayne. It really digs a little bit deeper into Bruce Wayne as the mask, trying to navigate life while being his true self as Batman.
There are many callbacks to the original series and a few surprises in store for all Batman lovers.
All In all this was an enjoyable series and I look forward too seeing whatโs instore next.
