Amazing film.
Every woman should watch it. I’ve never seen a film that so centres women, and all our lived experiences so much.
It was joyful, sad, cathartic - uplifting and amazing. Beautiful songs and showing a long line of sauna rituals, practices and singing that we can all identify with even if you’ve never been to a sauna.
So beautifully show, the angles and light - and probably the most amount of naked female bodies on film - shot in a human, no gratuitous way. Opening scene was stunning and you follow the stories of these women as the seasons pass from winter onwards.
Also a fantastic opportunity to learn about Estonian culture too, and the lived experiences of grandmothers, mothers and children.
I’ll watch again. You will too.
