I was really looking forward to this however... The first 10 minutes of the show is so insufferable to watch, im a chinese myself so i thought this movie will resonate with me, but mixing cantonese+mandarin with english in every sentence, and the chaotic interactions between them is just so annoying and unwatchable, trying to squeeze in as many asian stereotype in the first 10 minutes is just not the way to go (saying chinese cant differentiate he/she, when they both speak perfect english but need to add in dialect/mandarin in every sentence to sound 'authentic', the gloomy tone to every asian reunion, the rebellious and broken immigrant kid, calling your kids fat, unable to show love, disapproval from parents and the eternal need to seek their approval), how this movie get such a high rating is beyond me, this is just hollywood culture appropriation at its finest. If this show is doing exactly what the title says, then its doing a perfect job. As much as i want to support an ASIAN film, i dont think potraying these images again and again in the eyes of the world is going to help. I did make sure to finish the movie and it just didnt get better with plot. sigh
