Stalker, in its own way, is a movie that doesn’t require a single fixed context to interpret. This is neutral for me. I liked the symbolic weight of the images in the plot, as if the silence of the scenery sometimes spoke for itself. This involves long periods of soundless or dialogue-free scenes—not my taste, but some viewers dislike that. The movie makes you reflect on the individual nature of desire and its relation to the material world. It also has a somewhat debatable ending, and at times the sequence of events can be confusing. I really liked how human the characters are portrayed, and I really disliked the thematic logic leaning toward unnecessary or insufficient elements. Tip: don’t worry too much about the past the characters talk about; focus on the visual representation.
