I'm a big fan of the original Peter Jackson LOTR movies and sadly aside from the graphics and special effects that get the stars, the storyline is sad and full of holes. I've watched most of the episodes up to Udun and I want to pull out my hair after each show.
I'll rant generally so as to avoid spoilers - minor spoiler- how can you have elves as amazing fighters to be easily captured then suddenly have their skills again and can fight and plot epic explosion scenes? How do you let the big bad guy stay by himself in a barn unattended? Why are elves sporting short hair? How isn a pivotal moment formed from a basic swipe of objects? Are you telling me smart elves don't check what they have so the bad guy ends up with it anyway? Ugh..I've seen B movies with fewer plot holes than this. Sad...the creators of this show obviously think viewers are simpletons. The actors have limited material to work with. The one thing this show does is set up the pure tragedy that has to happen for LOTR to take place. No wonder why we ended up with ringwraiths and the mines of Moria full of dead dwarves and why Gimli says we should never trust elves and why those same elves have to earn that trust again. I appreciate that the tragedy has to happen but I the plot holes are cringy.
