I was wary after enjoying the first episode of this show thoroughly - was I about to be majorly disappointed, with these sub-par ratings? Was this show going to be as ridiculous and daft as those headlines said? Had I set myself up for a major letdown?
Luckily for me, Nightsleeper was a fun and addictive ride that kept me glued to my (train) seat as I found myself coming back for more.
To all the cynics who find this premise ‘ridiculous’ and ‘daft’ - if the movie was realistic it would’ve been a quiet and pleasant train ride to London that went off without hiccup. Don’t be dense! We can sacrifice your precious realism for a little entertainment, and I never found myself sucked out of the action by a little ‘that would never happen’ because GOD, it WAS happening in the series, and it totally hooked me into this world!
My mother’s a little nervous about an up-coming train trip, which means this series did its job well. The characters were genuinely compelling, the plot twists were constant (whether you like it that way or not) and my heart rate was spiking the whole way through.
Much love to Joe Cole and the other actors - absolutely smashing series and one that oozes care, heart and detail.
If you found yourself nitpicking the first episode for weak dialogue or acting - show isn’t for you. But if you found yourself deeply in love with it, the rest of the series is on par and worth your watchtime!
The BBC has produced a real marmite of a thriller!
