My English teacher in the ninth grade interpreted this book to be about the common transgender issues that occurred in England in the 1600s. She also showed us a bunch of film adaptations that dramatised the whole and only showed on two occassions singular scenes from the actual play. The movies were terrible and misunderstood what the word "comedy" meant, much like my teacher, while the play was hilarious and stayed true to how it was originally written. So the moral is, don't watch any of the movies and only watch the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre productions.
