I'll break this up in three parts and try to keep it concise so you know what to bother reading:
1: if you're already a fan of final destination
2: if you're not a fan
3: my personal take and rating
1: you're gonna like this movie, it's the tried and true formula with some nicely unexpected twists and turns that won't leave you sore from repetitiveness, and yes the deaths are as gorey and creative as ever, hallelujah.
2: there's a little more to this movie than the others, mainly in the way of a relatively tasteful attempt at dealing with concepts of generational trauma, and also a good shot at making you care (or hate) enough about the characters that the deaths feel a bit more impactful when they hit. However it's not winning any awards, and lord knows its not trying to.
3: honestly, I really liked it, worth a watch whoever you are, unless you avidly hate gore. It would've been a slam dunk 5 star for me if it weren't for one thing at the very end which (SPOILER WARNING) involves people running away from something coming at them rather than just running to the side... I think the prometheus school of running away from things needs to stop accepting new students. Took the movie from a 9.5 to an 8.5 out of 10 for me, mainly because its the last thing you see before exiting the cinema. But the four star is not to be insulting, it's just to put it in perspective with a lot of other movies that you could compare it to, however as far as horror, gore and final destination goes, hell yeah, f*king gorey good time, and rest in peace tony Todd. You will be missed my man.
