Most of it integrated the essence of actual silent films.
Lighting for B&W is different than that for color. Many newer B&W films follow the lighting schema of color films and saturate the subject with plenty of light. Most of this film was properly lit for B&W, considering the proper shadows and contrast, as well as framing shots in the proper manner.
Overall, well worth a watch.
