After my friend kept telling me how good this show is, I decided to give it a shot. I watched the first 3 episodes of the first season and that's as far as I'll go.
1. Trying to recreate the original series is a bad idea. It can't be done. Nor should it be done.
2. Whatโs with all the joking around while working on a Starship?
3. Ship gets fired on and it's like a fly flew by. Nothing seems to be taken seriously.
4. Spockโs character? Within the first few episodes making affectionate moves while the crew is around? Logic? I see no logic in his character. Mr. Nimoy is probably rolling in his grave.
5. The overall acting? Maybe itโs just me, but it seemed like dress rehearsal type acting. Like they were hoping they got their lines correct and were happy they did. Many scenes the acting seemed like they were just going through the motions.
6. Visuals. Actually, very good.
Strange New Worlds? Theyโre going to discover them without me. For me, I think it all stems from the idea of trying to recreate the original series with new actors. Nothing can come close to the original actors or stories. After watching the 3rd episode, I was bored. I had high expectations for this series, as Iโm a big fan of Star Trek. We actually dug deep in the old catalog and watched the movie Generations, which we havenโt watched for years, and enjoyed the heck out of it! Well anyway, it looks like many people enjoy this series, and Iโm glad that another Star Trek series is being made, but for me itโs a snooze fest. I donโt like the actors, acting and I think the script is weak at best.
