I genuinely dont understand the hate. Obviously it isn't a 10/10 but it definitely isn't anything under a 6. It reminds me of the highschool experience I dreamed of, exploring with friends stumbling on something new, eerie and exciting. I could rant about how much I loved this game but you honestly just have to play it for yourself to create your own opinion and narrative on the game. Those giving this game 1 star are those expecting perfection which it isn't, but it definitely is fun and I enjoyed every second of it. (I've gotten the platinum trophy on ps5 if tht persuades you to give the game a try)
