Interesting movie. In an attempt to build a peaceful, harmonious society, sameness is enforced and controls exerted through medication and keeping people in ignorance. The film debunks this way of achieving peace and suggests that to live a fuller life we must love, seek truth and beauty and accept the darker side of life with all the pains it entails. I have not read the book but it might have been a more poignant film if it had offered an alternative way to peace more explicitly (eg. a society rooted in spiritual values, morality, based on acceptance of oneness of humanity and conscious choices from a place of maturity and knowledge)
