Blown away. I love the way the story was told. It wasn't a dry, linear, docu-drama.
Fantastic and innovative in the way flashback sequences were weaved into the story and the way modern rock and rap were infused into key spots to highlight powerful, emphatic events.
Additionally, the connections to other music icons and the historic events of the King and Kennedy assassinations, race relations, cultural shift, and the oppressive dixie-crat south were portrayed honestly within the context of this artistic format.
Some content was spicey so be aware.
The cast was unbelievable. Austin Butler WAS Elvis, but not as a stiff, strict impersonator. Rather he embodied and embellished the things that made Elvis the iconic persona that he was . Tom Hanks was perfect as the creepy Col. Parker, Presley's eerily endearing sideshow conman manager.
Yes, it is a 3 hour movie, but it didn't feel like it. A must see.
