I think the last 60 pages is the best part of book as pace changes and novel takes a great turn. Almost like a thriller in that section and I think this is where the story excels and is my favourite genre and I feel this genre really would suit the author. She's very unique in being able to bring the reader into the story without using lots of descriptiveness of locations and environment. In contrast her discriptiveness is based more on the main protagonist. Her turmoil and guilt. Crazily the writer was able to make me as a reader want the main character to succeed and get away with what she done. Was really drawn to the character who had no life really outside her writing. Really draws on the loneliness in this character life and the isolation she lives as a writer. Which made the story drag for me in places as sometimes character interactions and relationships carry a story more. There was an occasion in workshop was effective as character was interacting with others. The vocabulary is beautiful this writer is a talented wordsmith. A very great author, extremely intelligent at conveying a story and telling it like no other author I've come across. However for me it did lack pace and i felt the ended in a place I didn't like as I wanted to see an outcome befitting for main protagonist. But it wasn't predicted able which was good. This book is a real insight into the publishing industry if what the writer is illustrating in the book represents how it works. Its very convincing and beautifully written but the pace was slow and the narrative and journey or character was repetitive at times. Not sure if I would purchase this author work again esp if the genre is not a thriller and is a horror. But I think in many ways thus book builds the fire in the belly to want to become
A great writer and makes you realise just how much intelligence and use of
Great vocabulary and taking a different approach to writing can translate to success. Also the simplicity of the other authors death I thought was quite clever and does work for me had me impressed how simple it was done and easily it worked.
