There just isn't enough good things to say about this album. If I was the right person to write this I would list them all. Tried and tested melodies and chord progressions given a whole new lease of life. The guy is still leaving space for interesting songs that go where you don't expect. I'm new to Robert Forster but if this is my introduction, I'm scared to listen to anything else, will it match up?
The songs delve into sadness, fear, reflection and hope due to a health diagnosis of his wife. The album is a journey through their past, together and separate, lyrically brilliant and musically familiar, Candle and The Flame is a grower. However, songs like The Roads and Always are immediate in their impact. Do not overlook this fantastic record - it's been on heavy rotation here.
