I had expected it would follow the books to a greater extent. But, instead they took the main premise and wrote their own story. Unfortunately, the changes are not for the better. They built in a love story, and some sort of murder mystery. Of course, they also changed the gender and skin color of the characters in the books, so we could all feel good about ourselves I guess. All of this, only detracts and minimizes an award winning story. I don't plan to tune into the second season.
