The overarching plot, characters and acting are pretty good. But it is unnecessarily aggressively feminist, to the point of being distracting and unrealistic. There are a number of strange plot holes as a result and it requires too much suspension of disbelief. Revisionist retellings of history cannot successfully accommodate the ideological visions they are meant to support. And as a result both the history and the ideology suffer.
