I went into the new Fantastic Four movie expecting a fresh, exciting reboot… what I got was a disappointment on every level. The film is overloaded with CGI to the point where nothing feels real — it’s like watching a cutscene from a video game for two hours. The effects aren’t impressive, just excessive.
On top of that, the script is filled with corny, forced jokes that ruin any tension or emotion. Every time a scene tries to get serious or meaningful, it gets interrupted by some dumb one-liner. It honestly felt like the movie was trying way too hard to be funny — and failing miserably.
The biggest letdown, though? The action. There wasn’t nearly enough of it, and what little we did get was weak and forgettable. The Fantastic Four’s powers — which should be the highlight — were barely used, and when they were, it was either underwhelming or straight-up pointless. These are supposed to be superheroes, but they barely felt heroic.
I saw it in 4DX hoping the experience would make it more exciting, but even that couldn’t save it. The seats moved more in the trailer for Superman (directed by James Gunn) than they did during the entire Fantastic Four movie. Compared to Gunn’s Superman, which had energy, emotion, and impact, this just felt flat and lifeless.
