I absolutely adore the first movie, so was super excited for this one. Unfortunately, I can only describe this one as "meh". There were some thing I loved, but the weaknesses really dragged this one down. The good: - The animation! I'm so glad to see them really go all out with the animation style. It really feels like the first movie tested the waters, then they saw how successful it was and didn't hold back at all this time. - Gwen's stuff. I adore the scenes with Gwen and her Dad. Super emotional and realistic! I would have happily watched a movie that focussed on Gwen as the main character with Miles taking a supporting role. - The main group of alternate spider-people. The main group of new faces we get are all super memorable and enjoyable. The disappointing - The pacing. This movie's pacing felt really off. It started strong and continued well until the spider chase scene. I remember sitting in the cinema thinking "is this chase still going?" - The ending. For such a long movie, not to have an end is really disappointing. It really is just act 1 and half of act 2 of a story. They could have easily cut the spider chase scene in half and added a proper end to this movie. - The soundtrack. The first movie had such a memorable and amazing soundtrack, this one was a bit of a let down.
