I grew up watching the Peter Jackson trilogies and read the books (including the Hobbit and the Silmarillion) through middle school and highschool, and I've been anticipating this series for months now. I've consumed most of the media and adaptations about Tolkien's work simply because I enjoy the world and its characters (yes, even the Russian movie; a silly interpretation is, at the very least, fun to sit down and laugh at). I was incredibly excited to revisit Middle Earth, and the first two episodes did not disappoint. Even during the slower moments I was invested in the unraveling mystery and, of course, the stunning visuals. It really feels like the world of Middle Earth, albeit one foreign to us in the time period, is alive on the screen. Immersive and gorgeous. Legitimately got goosebumps listening to the music. Of the characters that are new to us, I'm already attached, and of the familiar faces, I love that we're able to see where they've come from, and be able to join them as they grow and become the people we know that they end up as. I'm very much looking forward to where the story takes these characters.
