LMAOOOO All the 1 star reviews are just raging homophobes in denial. How can you rate the entire movie a 1 star for including a relationship, something every Disney princess movies has since the beginning of ever. Oh it’s different when it’s a guy and another guy? They’re forcing an ‘agender’ down your throats? What??? If anything by shielding your children to other relationships you are setting your own agender onto them, potentially damaging their own self sense of identity in the future. There is NOTHING WRONG with loving another. Gender shouldn’t even be an issue whether the love is romantic or platonic. I’m so sorry for my angry words but I’m genuinely disgusted by how so many ADULTS here are disapproving of the one time love is shown from a perspective they just weren’t exposed to or taught was ‘wrong’ at a young age. Love is love and I really hope they’ll see that someday. The relationship exists to strengthen their bond and isn't forcing any kind of agender or whatever, and for the MILLIONS of other gay people in the world seeing their relationship on the big screen may have brought tears to their eyes seeing them being FINALLY being well represented. I thought it was adorable.
The only point I can slightly agree on with the reviews is the hints of suicide, however, if the child is over the age of 12 I believe it’s a topic worth discussing, as it’s not uncommon for kids above that age to have suicidal thoughts these days, as much as you may hate to hear that. If your watching with a child aged below 10 then fair enough, but even so, it’s meaningful in the moment it’s suggested and fortunately no actual suicide happens.
Besides the topic of love, something that shouldn’t even be such a controversial discussion point, the movie is amazing in every way. Animation is stellar and super creative, story was simple but highly engaging, I loved Nimona’s facial expressions and the voice acting was great!! Would highly recommend this to fellow animation fanatics and is a great family movie 💗
