I'm extremely disappointed. The FL/ML are excellent actors. This "comedy" is not as funny as the writer's think. There's no chemistry. The Jamaican Korean- really? The adult-minor love trope- really? The supporting actors' characters were super annoying. This was on my list because of the actors and other reviews. It's a HARD NO for me, but see for yourself.

At first, I did not like this drama. After the 2nd episode, there were no brakes- full throttle. The ML and FL had great chemistry. Supporting characters were great. I could have done without the 2nd lead's father. That whole storyline and his family were weird. No spoilers, but these dramas are supposed to be an escape from most of the realities of life. This is not "When I fly towards you" or even "Love Between Fairy and Devil" (2 of my fav CDramas), but it is passionate, riveting, and realistic. It is worth the watch. It is worth the laughter, smiles, and tears.

Halfway through episode 2 and ready to call it quits. Taking the ML's phone was the catalyst for me disliking the FL's character. The ML's stupidity and weakness didn't help. There are too many great Kdramas out there to waste any time on this one.

I don't know if I can update this later, but I'm struggling through the 2nd episode. The FL's character is an imbecile. The actress over emphasizes everything. The ML's character is written rather poorly. So far, the pervert from the subway has been the most interesting character. Please let this improve.

BYEON WOO-SEOK. LET'S KEEP IT 100 - he's the reason why many of us are watching Lovely Runner. I almost quit in episode 1. I'm struggling in 2. Maybe because I'm not 15 and have reasonable expectations is why the FL's character is so unlikable. Good job publicists and netizens for hyping this up. The cast is phenomenal. It's too soon to solidify my disdain for this show. I'm pushing through and re-updating. Ep.4: I'm ready to quit. I spoke too soon about pushing through.. Why??? Why is there no growth for the FL? Ep.10- I literally screamed at the show. Why portray a 34 year old as unable to think and run from danger? This hurts. Ep.13 - Why? This show has me re-thinking kdramas. The FL's character gains no insight or growth. A car honking surprises her. She's an adult.

I never write a review before finishing the show, but I don't think I can endure. The townspeople (except for the ML's mom) are loud idiots. The FL mumbles and is infuriating. Her weakness is not strength. The ML is very easy on the eyes and probably why I'm trying to make it to episode 5 (on 3). His character is admirable, but comes across like he's high functioning on the spectrum. There are funny moments, but not enough to save this. I'll be updating.

Must watch! My favorite JDrama! The cleverly structured episodes and REALISTIC (unlike many of my KDramas) connections were incredible. I read some reviews and almost didn't watch this. Issues addressed/explored: domestic violence, mental issues, sexuality, relationships identity, & more. It's NOT "let me stare at you for 5 minutes and now, we're in love". It's raw, enticing, and relatable. DISLIKES: I respect the ending, but I wanted a brighter glimmer of hope. The FL was annoying at times. I wanted more accountability for the ML. LIKES: Everything came full circle in the end. I completely loved the "lunchbox". There's something about someone that might not be outstanding to the world, but it is totally irresistible to one person.

You won't regret watching this. Keep in mind that this was made in 2009. There are many of the common tropes that occur in Asian dramas. The plot is realistic, and the characters are relatable. The ML's character showed development and growth. His background story and relationships with others were well connected. I did not like the FL's character. She suffered hardships, but lacked any ambition to change her situation. She was a "damsel in distress" for the most part. The man who really saved her was friend zoned. She pretended to not know that he loved her. The overly "naive" and "I must help everyone else first" characterization was too much. The Hua Village people: Please stop making all people from the country areas stupid and annoying. OVERALL, beautiful actors, great controversial issues addressed, the triangle-of course, and something is hypnotic and just draws you in. Don't resist.

After painfully watching all 16 episodes, I wanted to give an informed review. Queen of Tears did not live up to its potential. The writers dropped the ball. Someone failed to refill the Adderall because this was all over the place. How many tropes were they aiming for? No authentic spin. We know what to expect in k-dramas, but most add believable twists and turns. They did manage to hijack ideas from Crash Landing.., but failed to execute them. Absolutely NO CHEMISTRY from the beginning to the end between the ML and FL. (ML) Kim Soo-hyun did the best that he could do with what he was given. His eyes usually speak volumes and convey all emotions, but they screamed "save me" in this series. (FL) Kim Ji-won - it was like watching Bella in Twilight. Subpar acting. This was not a good match/fit. The secondary characters provided strength and much needed comedic support. More attention needed to be on developing the ML and FL versus the secondary characters. I WILL NOT re-watch it because of the oversaturated paradoxical content. Give it a try, but don't have high expectations.
