Ignore any hate about unrealistic fights and monster movements, it's a monster movie, have fun with it. This movie was absolutely badass. Godzilla was extremely important to me in my childhood and this movie made me giddy the whole time. Giving Kong and Godzilla more personality and depth instead of being mindless monsters is an amazing touch and they do it well. Bad guys were badass but the way they portrayed Kong and Godzilla, there's no way the bad guys stood a chance. Both Godzilla and Kong were extremely dominant alpha portrayals that serviced the characters well instead of making them whimpy with a comeback moment. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the bad guys with a rampaging gigagodzilla coming at them. Last time I felt this good was when Godzilla went thermonuclear on King Ghidorah in King of the Monsters. Monster personalities are a fun touch, action was very over the top bordering on cartoony with a godzilla suplex but this movie is really worth a watch just to enjoy monsters fighting monsters and a decent storyline. Side Note: most monster movies are plagued with too much human screen time and not enough monsters but giving Kong more personality made him the main character of the movie and not the human characters which made it feel like legendary gave me exactly what I came to see.
