It doesn't really document the Indian-to-West emigrant experience that well. It would actually be more interesting for all viewers if they e.g. showed the family upon their move wishing they had bidets instead of toilet paper. They also don't show them struggling with cold weather. (95% of Indians will find Florida and Australia freezing let alone Pittsburgh). The youngest child's name Vinod is an archaic name (like giving a 5 year old girl's name in a sitcom in 2024 Lorraine. The surname suggest they're South Indian, they say they're from Ahmedabad (Western India) and they say Hindi (a North Indian language). It's very contradictory for anyone with a rudimentary understanding of Indian culture.
