trigger warning: not everyone will agree with my opinion (probably because it's the cold hard truth)
Before watching this movie, you may think that it's about education reforms and awareness about girl's education, but it is nothing short of a heavily baised and innacurate historical film. It starts off with beautiful cinematographic shots of a Hindu wedding, in which the 2 main characters are getting married. The film further narrates how Jyoti teaches his wife to read and write in a society which opposes education all together. All is well till the film takes a drastic turn and starts talking about a myriad of ways in which Hindu religion, Gods and rituals such as traditional weddings are a waste (in spite of the film's beautiful starting scene) It baffles me to think how this film, which so openly hates on Hindu religion was allowed to run, when no other religion or caste in the world would approve of such degradation of one's beliefs. We are living in 21st century and no more think about castes in our social circle. That is why it was very unnecessary for this film to try to create a drift between people based on pure fiction, claimimg to be historically accurate. It almost feels as if this a Hindu hate film. Shame on the filmmakers and anyone who enjoys such an atrocity. Wake up to the facts, please.
