I waited 3 years for them to finally turn my favourite book into a movie and I was so so disappointed. From the very beginning where they had Finch and Violet meeting on a bridge instead of at the Bell tower I knew that I wouldn't end up enjoying the movie as much as I thought I would. There were so many small but important details that were left out of the movie. The Virginia Woolf quotes that were used were all wrong and the quotes in the book held a very important role in portraying how Finch and Violet actually felt. The focus wasn't really on Finch's story and it is so saddening because I related so much to his character in the book and the movie has none of it.
I was expecting to see Finch's character development from the darkness to the light and then back again as well as Violets development after Eleanor's death.
All I can really say us, this book was a beautiful portrayal of depression and suicide and the movie did not do it justice at all. Not even a tiny bit.
