I am a horror movie fan! Like, I LIVE for them! From Classics to Modern Creeps! i’ve waited so long for Mallari to be available anywhere right after MMFF 2023. I got so excited when they finally dropped it on Netflix! I’ve finished the film.. in two days! 😂 I had to cut it off, cause I got so bored in the first half! Honest review? Storyline: 7/10 A folklore with a twist! It’s been decades since I’ve watched a Filipino urban legend that I expected to be creepier than of US’s Boogeyman, Slenderman, Coven Witches, etc., It’s a reimagining! ♥️ Casting Piolo and JC was indeed a 10/10! Acting supremacy at its best! IMO, Janella, didn’t need to be there! Scare? 0.5/10! No jumpscares, no creeps, no psychological disturbances or anxiety. A typical “trying hard” way of frightening that turned out to be funny! Weird! CGI? Nooooo!! 1/10! Rating 1 for using a real-looking blood! All the effects are soooo Filipino Horror!! That “manananggal” Gloria Diaz was a turn-off! 😡 Overall Review: 4.3/10 I was so disappointed! I thought that finally this film will topbill and outshine Feng Shui! But still.. smh 🤦🏼 This movie is funny! Not worth watching! Forgettable. But I love Papa P. ♥️
