If you are a fan of the books or the Sci Fi Channel miniseries, you will likely be disappointed in the movie, as it departs OFTEN and in my opinion takes an epic story and turns it into a run of the mill story. The CGI, effects and visuals are impressive nonetheless, and the acting is top notch. Reminds me of Ender’s Game. Took an awesome book and made it into an average movie.
I find it a bit amusing all the ravers for the movie-I suppose most if not all of them have never read the Dune Series by Frank Herbert. There was never a mention about the Weirding Way, much less represented in the action sequences. The duel at the end was a huge departure from the book, and Jessica’s daughter was several years old when the final battle with the Emperor’s Saudukar troops occurred. I don’t understand why directors think their version of a classic novel story line is superior.
