contains LITTLE spoilers ahead for PA movies!
as someone who's watched every pa film multiple times, i thought i'd give this one a shot too. i wasn't too keen on 'the ghost dimension', i didn't have too high hopes for this as i could kind of tell which direction this franchise was going in. next of kin is the worst PA film yet, for me. if this wasn't PA, i wouldn't have thought it was so bad, but PERSONALLY for me i wish they would've just stuck with the original nature of the films. i really enjoyed the first 4 films, in the way of having this supernatural haunting taking place which you can't see, relying on seeing things move or hearing noises, possession, that kind of thing. the next of kin felt like it barely had any supernatural stuff in it mostly, only really showing in the last 20-30 minutes, and it wasn't good at all. the thing i didn't like about 'the ghost dimension' was the whole idea of being able to see this entity on the camera, and now in next of kin you have a demon running around?? i just think in comparison to the first couple of films, it's going downhill. and the whole handheld camera aspect felt very strange in this one, like in my opinion PA's whole thing is the way its shot, and they did really well with building tension and stuff with it in previous films, but it was different this time round and it just ruined it. obviously, some people may prefer this so this really is just a PERSONAL review but in case others want to watch and have a similar opinion to me, i hope this can help!
