Overall, I enjoyed it.
Some thoughts and quibbles...
The voice cast is stellar yet I still yearn for the original 80s voice cast. It's just what I grew up with. Nostalgia.
Animation and art style is a modern day homage to the original.
The hologram image of Castle Greyskull is lame. No need to mess with the castle's aesthetic.
The character development and bonds were done well.
I was not put off by the Teela heavy story as other's were though I would have liked more He-man. As a side note, the Teela art style from the 2003 reboot is my favorite.
The big issue I have is that this cannot be considered an actual continuation. This is gritty and edges. Dark and even violent. The 80s cartoon, you never saw any actual person on person violence. No swords on people actions. Not even a person getting punched. Now in this continuation people get hurt and killed. This just does not keep in the spirit of the source material.
I am not saying this is bad, it is just a shock to see how Eternia went from G to TV MA.
This should have been marketed as inspired by 80s cartoon. It would make it a better sell.
Still, I look forward to part 2.
