How can something be so promising and so disappointing at the same time? This isn’t an invasion movie, it’s a human drama filled with miserable characters and writers that want you to be miserable too. They started off with a good idea then watered it down so much I forgot this was a show about aliens invading. I don’t know if they did that for the budget or trying to appeal to the drama crowd (they seem to like it) but this might be a classic “a show for everyone is a show for no one” kinda thing. It’s great if you like it, I don’t know how but that’s great. Personally can’t stand this because it’s not just the mind-numbingly long drama sequences and exposition that goes no where (looking at you Sam Neill), it’s the awful characters that are all annoying in their own miserable way and the fact that they wrote it to constantly be a downer. Good effects wasted on bad writing and tired, laughable character clichés.
