This game is very pretty but putting lipstick on a pile of s**t does not make it better. The new age system forces you to play multiple civilizations and not just the ones you want to play as well as a soft reset to units and towns/cities. While on the subject of towns and cities, the new system for that is just counter intuitive, you have to pay gold to upgrade a town to the point that you can set a production que otherwise you have to pay gold for instant building or recruiting which could be useful in a pinch if you don't notice an attack come but a pain otherwise. Also the settlement cap stunts those who expand fast and butchers that play style. The playable leader mechanic is nothing other than a money grab that they can exploit down the road and also forces you to play certain leaders if you wish to play a civilization that doesn't open up until a later age, yes you can just start the game in a later age but that's just not fun. Now if they add a mode that takes out the age system and fixes a few of the other issues such as constant game crashes or the what feels like an unfinished UI then I would give this game a higher score but I don't foresee 2K doing most of that.
