Giving 3 stars for the effort of Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, Sarath Kumar, Parthiban and Trisha. As expected Ash and Karthi have the maximum screen presence. They did 90% justice to their respective roles. The 10% is in their looks and screenplay which forces them to downplay.
The minuses:
1. Poor screenplay and dialogues. Kalki made us doubt even the Protagonist at times which was lacking. The movie goes in a pace where audience are not bothered about who takes what.
2. VFX : In scenes were they shot at picturesque location, they need not have applied filters. And even if they did, they could've kept it throughout. The filter switch on every location was rather annoying.
3. Laughable choice of real location : example Thailand as Lanka!!!!
4. Although the director took privilege in removing characters, he should have rather spent time on story telling.
Overall : If you had read book or not, this is a lazy attempt to make a movie based on Kalki's historical fiction which misses the momentum in a poor script with few decent performances by the actors and actresses.
