Not even close to the original! Original was a musical love story with a gang rivalry background. This was a gang war story with some music stuck in here and there with an occasional reference to a love story. Very dark, both in presentation of plot as was as cinematography. Poor editing. Sun and blue skies but street is dark and grey. I know why Sonneheim passed, he saw the way they massacred his work. I gave it a 2 because it was nice to get out no matter theresult.
