As the name implies, it's a shark film set in Paris. Knowing that, why would you watch it if you expect anything more than bad decisions and a ridiculous plot? It is not a Spielberg film.
I loved it because YES sharks in fresh water, IN the Seine, and later the Catacombs under Paris. Say no more, grab the popcorn, my family is in! The shark has a name and the shark is named Lilith!
It made more sense than the Sharknado franchise (which has its own wit, charm, and merit), but really, that would not be difficult.
There was a lean towards some thoughtful plot points. They do spent a minute on the plastic continent in the Pacific, which hopefully sparked some awareness about it (one of the opening shots with the whale trapped in it was heart breaking).
I give it a solid 5 stars for what it is and some head nods for a lean towards an Ecothriller. Extra merit for great underwater shots and (IMO) smooth edits.
