The Curse of the Sequel Because Hill House was perhaps the best written horror series of all time, because it was so chillingly slow and purposeful and because Rotten Tomatoes had given a 88% fresh rating to the new season, most of you are going to give Bly Manor the benefit of doubt till Episode 5. It's going to start well and it's going to build slowly just like the first season and you will continue to bear with it. Until Episode 5. And that's when it will start. The acceptance that this is nowhere near Hill House. And you might want to give up. Don't. Change playback speed on Netflix to 1.5X and continue. You will be amazed at what a bit more brisk editing could have done this to this season. On a side note, I also realized the problem with Rotten tomatoes ratings. Fresh means new and new needn't always be interesting.
