TLDR: Great game ruined by rushed production that caused bugs and FPS drops
This game had so much potential, it’s very sad that it came out the way it did. The graphics look horrible with simple textures and designs, along with small rendering distance so objects will pop up at a somewhat close distance to the player. To make that worse, despite all of the frame saving measures, the game still runs horribly, with bugs and performance issues.
Take this game and have it run as smoothly as Legends Arceus, and it would be one of the best if not the single best pokemon game of all time.
Gamefreak, please take find a way to either give yourself a much larger development time (like Tears of the Kingdom), or find ways to be more coordinated in finding outside help. It is obvious that this was not a cohesive project, much more a collage of different group’s code that does not mesh together. The game is held up by spaghetti code, and that is clearly unacceptable in Nintendo’s eyes. I doubt much will change soon based on the games sales, but over time people will start regarding Pokémon’s IP with disdain as most recent games are rushed to completion without good foundation. I will never again be as hyped for a game as I was with scarlet and violet.
