Truly disappointing game. What I considered to be one of the best story games of all time just to follow it up with this. Spoilers ahead! For those of you thinking of buying this game, don’t. First I will talk about the gameplay, and then get into the story. If you wanna experience the gameplay again just replay the first one. The gameplay is exactly the same, they only made minor improvements. With seven years time you think they could have at least added a few new mechanics, but nope! I usually don’t complain much about repetitive gameplay, if the story makes up for it. Here we get neither. The story is complete garbage. They kill off joel within the first few hours of the game, they force you to play as his killer, and force this narrative of “revenge is bad” onto you. It’s so corny. Abby was a terrible character, I feel bad for her voice actor. She did an amazing job just to play a horribly written character. They don’t develop her character at all, all you know is her dad was killed by Joel. All of Abby’s friends are shallow as well, they try to make you feel bad for killing them but all I felt was passion. Killing off those mean less and boring characters was the only exciting part about this game. As for the “remaster” of it, complete waste of money. They changed literally nothing, they just added a arcade like mode, and offer you the option to play “lost levels”. At least have the decency to add one or two new levels to the actual campaign. Also, I hate the narrative that I’m “sexiest” or “anti feminine” because I don’t like this game. Female characters can be amazing (Sadie Adler, Ellie (TLOU 1), Freya, etc.) it’s just when you push it on us so much that it makes you despise the character. Overall, I’d give this game a 5/10 because I did play the whole thing. And I did enjoy SOME parts of the game (collecting coins being the main one). Overall, if you wanna know the story and what happens, just watch it on YouTube. Don’t support this kind of garbage.
