One of the greatest horror films of all time. Hereditary is a film that rewards patience. It is not a movie that you watch while playing on the phone. It is not a movie that relies on jump scares. If horror films that rely primarily on characterisation and thematic terror are not your cup of tea, then neither is Hereditary. However the patient, and discerning viewer will be rewarded by a harrowing character drama that descends into supernatural madness by the third act.
