All the emotions of humanity encapsulated, but ultimately uplifting. I saw the original film when in Primary School in the 1960s. It has stayed with me for the last 60 years. Finally got the book last week. Brought my childhood flooding back and evoked scenes from my own life through the last 6 decades.
