I rather thought I was going to love this movie, as I’m usually a sucker for intense love stories with strong emotional connections. I found it to be pretty dull, though. I think this was in large part due to the acting. I think Shailene Woodley is great, but I wasn’t feeling it in this film. Not just from her, I might add, but from everyone in the film. The concept was more unique compared to many romances coming out today, so I appreciated that aspect. I just don’t think they pulled it off. I felt myself zoning out and checking my phone throughout the film out of sheer boredom. I wasn’t captivated. The acting didn’t make me feel anything and it just wasn’t believable. The greatest thing about the film were the optics, I think— beautiful shots, beautiful fashion, beautiful hair and makeup, beautiful scenes, etc.
