A Hollow Portrayal Wrapped in Stereotypes
This film is, without exaggeration, one of the weakest productions I have come across in years. It fails across nearly every dimension—storytelling, cultural accuracy, character development, and even basic cinematic craft. While it attempts to disguise itself under a political theme, the result is a shallow, uninformed portrayal that does more harm than good.
The action sequences resemble the worst of outdated Bollywood clichés—clumsy, fake, and poorly choreographed. The narrative relies on manufactured heroism, exploiting the inexperience of certain audiences, with box-office returns appearing to be the sole priority.
Perhaps most troubling is the film’s depiction of Iran and Iranians. Indian characters are shown as modern, handsome, noble, and brave, while Iranians are reduced to grotesque caricatures: unkempt, violent, filled with hatred, and eager to kill innocents. Their dialogue in Persian is riddled with comical errors, betraying the filmmakers’ lack of research or cultural consultation. One glaring example occurs at 1:31:50, where two “Iranian” villains converse in front of a Persian-language sign that is nothing but gibberish—eliciting laughter from anyone familiar with the language.
The misrepresentations continue with Tehran airport portrayed as a derelict ruin, Iranians as primitive nomads in filthy clothing, and Tehran itself reduced to a grim, inaccurate backdrop. Even more offensive is the decision to depict the main Iranian character as homosexual despite being married, a crude and unnecessary touch that feels deliberately provocative toward Iranian culture and traditions.
For those who know Iran—or have even briefly visited—these depictions bear no resemblance to reality. Instead, they reveal an alarming ignorance and insensitivity on the part of the filmmakers, bordering at times on racism.
Ultimately, this film stands at the very bottom of international cinema standards. Having watched countless productions from across cultures and languages, I can say with certainty that this one offers nothing of value—only distortion and wasted time. My advice is simple: avoid it.
