Rarely leave a theatre feeling enraged enough to write a review. The film was a collection of vaguely executed themes loosely and pointlessly referencing each other without any sense of resolution, reason or feeling. The thing that really got me was the relentless employment of shock factor. An old, tired trope of hacked-up women and dead foetuses, culminating in a completely unnecessary rape scene, which occurring in the absence of a plot just makes it feel like a masturbatory and lecherous project. I initially thought the dialogue was intentionally adopting that clunky, staccato feeling which old scary movies have, but then it simply stayed clunky and strange for almost three hours. Waste of time and money.
